There’s No “I” In Team!
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
As we have kicked off this Living Temple series, we have been working hard to get everyone to join a small group. But why?
We were made to do life in community with others. When God made Adam, he recognized that man needed a partner and companion. Jesus did his ministry with his 12 disciples. The passage above reminds us of our need to be strengthened by a strong community.
We all know that it is easier to accomplish hard things when we have help and encouragement from others. “Many hands make light work.” Etc.
This series that we’re in is no different:
Jesus looked at the Jewish Temple, a monumental achievement, and declared, “Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” The Temple wasn’t just a building; it was the dwelling place of God. However, being stationary, it limited access to His presence, and many began to drift away.
Jesus fulfilled the prophecy, “I will pour out my Spirit on all people,” “I will put a new spirit within them,” and “True worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.” The Apostle Paul reinforces this, asking, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?”
Your body is now God’s dwelling place, and through His Spirit, believers bring His presence into the world.
The focus of Living Temple is to learn how to honor God with our health in all areas of our lives:
Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual.
Now, we want it to be clear, this is not a series focused on being on a diet… Not at all. It’s so much more than that. And honestly, as a church, we believe we have an obligation to go deeper than that.
God gives us a calling and instructions how to be healthy, and it’s way more than what we eat or how fast we run.
One of the best ways for us to grow in our health is with a small group of helpers. Friends and family that can keep us accountable and encourage us and cheer for us.
If you’re ready to grow in the areas of your life that God has called you to… join a group.
Let’s get healthier together!
