Don’t Rush The Process
- Abraham: Waited 25 years for the birth of his son Isaac
- Jacob: Waited 14 years to marry his beloved
- Joseph: Waited 13 years for his suffering to end
- David: Waited about 15 years to become king of Israel
- Moses: Waited 40 years to lead the Israelites out of Egypt
- Jesus: Waited 30 years before fulfilling his Father's will
For the last several weeks, we’ve been talking about what it takes to make a comeback. Our hope and prayer as a church is that you would be encouraged to take the steps necessary to grow closer to God and to make 2025 your best year yet, with him!
But, one thing that always makes our comeback story difficult… is waiting.
Especially when we’ve made some very nerve-wracking, difficult decisions to make changes. They may have meant that we were honest about a struggle, or we ended a harmful relationship, or decided to trust God with an uncertain future.
When we set out on these narrow, often scary, paths, we really hope that God will move and move quickly. Now, we can bet that if we are following God’s will for us that he will act. But, quickly? Well, that’s a whole other story.
Oftentimes God leaves us in a valley of waiting and we can’t see why. But we aren’t alone. There are many examples in scripture of God’s people being called or instructed to do something and then having to wait for God to work through it.
This can be so frustrating, because we are ready to go. Or we think we are. But a lot of the time, God has something that he is doing in and through us during the waiting. He is working behind the scenes to prepare your heart and mind for what is next.
We think we’re ready to rush into the next thing, or the next season. But God knows better and he knows that often we aren’t ready… we’re just rushing.
So, as you’ve taken the steps to make hard choices toward your comeback, trust that God will work it out for his glory and your good. Don’t worry about the schedule, he’s got that under control.
And remember… don’t rush the process.
Psalm 37:34
Wait for the Lord and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land.
