Just Another Day in Paradise

As I sit here and type, my mind is racing with so many thoughts. I miss my family, I’m tired of eating Curry chicken, rice, and drinking water. Of course, we have met so many people here in Kolkata that only wish they had a meal…clean water, etc. So I find myself in my typical predicament…Feeling humbled that God has not given up on me.

The sights and sounds of this place will forever be sketched in my heart. Will I ever come back here, I don’t know that answer. If it was left up to the Pastors we have met, Steve and I could stay here forever and teach God’s Word to hungry people. The streets are full of people…the cars are everywhere…the horns never cease from honking…the curious looks haven’t stopped either. We visited Mother Teresa’s’ burial sight, a very special opportunity. What an amazing women she was, and her heart still lives on through the people here. Steve and I finished a long day of preaching…Steve spoke at Bethel Church this morning as he described it to be a very spirit filled church. Then tonight he taught at a Assembly of God Church in there “Hindi” service.

I was at a Baptist Church in the morning and a youth service at the AG Church tonight.  I was asked to teach on sexual purity and boy was it a fun time. Pastor Jacob asked our team to come forward at the alter up front and pray with anyone who came forward. I know I spoke with two people with huge stories of sexual sin…we can only pray for their healing in this area. Tomorrow is a new day, with plans of a childrens home ran by our buddy Souman. He’s a pretty cool guy…I call him my body guard and he likes that…Oh yea, they don’t make shirts in India to fit me…and when I found a pair of jeans I liked they were going to charge me twice as much as they would’ve charged Todd…sounds like discrimination against big guys to me. All this rambling to say this…My heart is overjoyed that I came to India. The people have proved to be very special, rich or poor, young or old we have been blessed by all we have come in contact with. The needs here are a bit overwhelming, but with God all things are possible. (as I type, firecrackers are exploding outside my window) crazy people…)

NorthPointe family, be in prayer that our next several days here go smooth. Pray for hearts to be touched with the Love of Jesus. Ask for strength for each team member by name. Pray that we will continue to lift up Jesus.

Hey Kevin, Thanks for sharing! I’m sure you are having a HUGE impact of those you meet (and I mean that in only the kindest way!). God bless you and your team during the rest of your trip and in what comes afterwards!
